Albuquerque
We have been here once before and love the scenery. We have to plan to come back during the balloon festival but our target this year was Spearfish SD so this is just a stop for a couple of weeks. Unfortunately the governor for NM wants to be just like Pritzger (IL) and shut everything down – in the desert, at the end of April! Fortunately Patti and I have been vaccinated so we weren’t worried. We did get into some awesome restaurants – Range Cafe which was on Diners, Drive In’s and Dives. I had the Tom’s Meatloaf which was amazing!
Petroglyph Volcanoes!
Patti and I decided to do some hiking which is a new thing for us. Albuquerque has a region just west of the city called Petroglyph Monument which has volcanoes! They have trails going around them and it was really cool!
Patti’s Birthday!
Patti had her birthday while we were in Albuquerque. She is celebrating her 29th year of being 30! Tori sent her flowers and strawberries which Patti refused to share!
Balloon Museum
Since we are at the capital of balloon festivals, we decided to visit the Anderson Abruzzo Albuquerque International Balloon Museum. It was pretty cool to see the history of passenger ballooning and how the museums namesake broke all kinds of distance records ballooning all over the world.
Casper WY
Our last stop before we get to Spearfish SD. It was interesting with lots of mountains surrounding us and it was nice that everything was wide open. They had one museum that was very cool.
National Historic Trails Interpretive Center
This place was very interesting and it was a great time. Very educational and focused on the great trail drive to the West. Many groups of people from the Mormans to gold prospects and general farmers trying to get to west all converged here and eventually broke off into the different trails taking them to their destination.
These two stops were great and had a good time – but can’t wait to get to our next destination! Especially since we will have some special guests come and visit.
