Patti’s mother – Marjorie Lairamore passed away on 7/11/2017. Below is her obituary:
The Call
As Patti and I were planning this new chapter in our lives, we were concerned about being away from Marjorie. It was important to Patti that she be at Marjorie’s bedside if anything should happen. I had promised Patti that no matter where we were, she would be with her.
When the call came that Marjorie was in the hospital and the prognosis was not good, we were in Ft. Wayne and very close. I told Patti to jump in the car and go to her and I would come the next day with the RV. That evening, she passed away with Patti at her bedside. I was so grateful that Patti was with her when she passed and especially keeping my promise!
Marjorie’s Daughters
Of course Patti and her sisters (Cheryl, Debbie and Karen) were extremely devoted to their mother. I was always impressed with how they called Marjorie daily and make sure she was OK. And then they would call each other to share and compare notes! On some occasions, Marjorie would call me if she hadn’t heard from Patti for a couple of days. She would call to see if Patti was OK, not to complain she hadn’t called. That was Marjorie, always thinking of her daughters first!
The Service
Patti was blessed to have so many friends come to the viewing and funeral. Not only local friends from Mishawaka but Ft. Wayne, Wisconsin and Tennessee as well!
We were blessed to have Pastor David Schramm for the services. He knew Marjorie and Neal (Patti’s Father) very well when he was pastor at East United Methodist church. He also married Patti and I! It was great to see him again and listen to his sermon during the service. I had forgotten how he loved to be charismatic and “talk” to his audience.
For myself, I felt honored to be part of the family. Marjorie was the ultimate matriarch and had my respect and admiration. In my mind, if she needed something – consider it done! Patti and I would do whatever it took to ensure she was happy and had a full life. We did that because we loved her and she gave so much back to us.
We will miss her very much and she will always be in our thoughts as we make our travels in this new adventure!
God is so good – what a blessing that you were so close. Been thinking of you two a lot lately. ((Hugs)) to you both <3
Thanks Jeanie! It was great to see you and your Mom again!
