So in our travels across the country we always wanted to stop in Nashville. We had never been there and I didn’t have high expectations but wanted to see the city anyway. We aren’t drinkers or bar hoppers or even country music fans.
Boy have we changed!!!!! Nashville was awesome!!!
Broadway!
The main drag in downtown Nashville is Broadway! What I liked was all of the main “honky tonks” were within 3 blocks on Broadway. Very easy to get around and see the history of Nashville along with the trolley tours throughout the city. Learned a lot about Nashville and the country music but the main thing I discovered was…. RumChata!!!!
Started our day in Tootsie’s! Very historic and like the old honky tonks, small and intimate! We walked in at 12:30 PM and it was packed but we got 2 seats at the bar in front of the stage (very rare). A new band was setting up and we spent the next 5 hours listening to some great, live country music while I drank Jack Daniels Tennessee Honey Whiskey and RumChata. After 5 drinks, I thought I was Garth Brooks and Yeehaw’d all afternoon. I had no voice left the next 2 days…
Went to other honky tonks as well. We didn’t leave Broadway until 9 PM, so much for no bar hopping!
Other places to see….
Took a tour of Nashville and saw some unique and familiar places!
Yes there is a replica of the Parthenon in Nashville! It was built in 1867 and part of the Tennessee Centennial Exposition. It is a full size replica of the Parthenon in Athens and very cool! Definitely worth seeing.
The Grand Opry Hotel is amazing and huge. Has many different areas with vegetation and other themes. It also has a huge convention center where we ran into this guy…
Let me explain…. Bill is from Atlanta and we met him and his wife 16 months ago on a motorcycle cruise in the Caribbean. A motorcycle cruise is where a third party company works with cruises lines (Celebrity) and ports of call that allow you to bring your motorcycle on the cruise! There were 20 of us and we had a blast riding our bikes thru San Juan, St. Thomas, St. Maarten, etc.
Bill and I clicked right away and we had the best time. Especially when we sang “Born to Be Wild” in front of everyone at a motorcycle clubhouse! I couldn’t believe we ran into each other at the Grand Ole Opry Hotel and it was amazing seeing him again!
Of course we had to see the Grand Ole Opry!
Kristi came to see us and went out on the town with Patti. She is Patti’s childhood friend and are very close. It meant a lot for Patti to see her. Kristi’s son lives in Nashville so we all got together for dinner and that was very special!
We did alot in 6 days but only saw about 25% of Nashville but will come this way again but next time, it will be for 2 weeks!
Nashville was awesome!
