Combining a couple of posts – somewhat behind….
Orlando!
So what to do in Orlando…. HMM…. Oh yeah – gotta see Mickey!
So we went to Epcot on Day 1. We always like Epcot, it just seems so relaxing as you walk around and try different foods and drinks.
At the Epcot entrance is a series of panels where there are family images placed to mark coming to Epcot. Tori and Patti did this about 15 years ago (they wouldn’t let me join them – I know, who could blame them). Well we found the image! Very cool!
On the second day we went to the Magic Kingdom! We went on a Saturday because it was staying open until midnight! Of course the first image below is downtown and the second image is with Cinderella’s castle lit up in the background. I got to meet Cinderella! Had to push a couple of 4 year old girls out of the way but fortunately their parents understood! And yes – we stayed until midnight! A long day and so much fun. One bummer though – I think I am too old to ride Space Mountain. It took a toll on me physically and the ride was just painful!
Cape Canaveral
We stayed at Jetty Park hoping to get a glimpse of the next SpaceX launch. However it kept getting delayed and did take off the day after we left! BUMMER! However we did visit the Kennedy Space Center! Very cool! Took the bus tour of the Apollo launch sites and the Apollo Center! We were here about 7 years ago and they have added a lot to this center. Especially the Space Shuttle exhibit where they have the Atlantis – truly amazing!
Valiant Air Command Warbird Center
This is a small museum near Cape Canaveral which is free! Great to spend a couple of hours walking thru different exhibits. Also looking at different aircraft from different periods of time. However, one item that caught my eye was a Chickasaw helicopter that was converted to a flying RV! I told Patti that is our next challenge – after she divorces me…. Oh well, I can dream.
NEXT STOP – FT MYERS BABY!
If space mountain did you in I’m assuming you stayed away from mission to mars. Totally messed bill and I up; kids enjoyed laughing at us!
If you make it to Punta Gorda, look up Punta Gorda Chocolate&Wine. My nephew, Steph, and his wife, Patti, own it. She is the chocolate maker. Good beer, wine, and homemade chocolate!
Hey Darlene! Sorry it took so long to respond! Yeah we stayed away from Mission to Mars, we did that years ago and I remembered it was rough! Tori was laughing at us too!
Will try to make it to Punta Gorda and check out your Nephew’s business. Keep in touch!
