Shipshewana
And we are on are way to our first destination – Shipshewana! We made this our first stop to see our family before we head out for the country! We spent the July 4th holiday at our nephew’s farm (Mark and Cheri). It is a milk farm with over 100 cows and they work very hard (with the help from their kids Caleb and Hannah) every day to keep it going. Other family members joined the celebration with over 30 people attending! They surprised us with a cake specifically made for our journey.
We had a terrific time and it was great seeing everyone!
Another part of Shipshewana is the Amish shopping and food! It is the best shopping with people who believe in high quality and fair prices. We spent most of the day touring the Flea Market! Hundreds of artisans and vendors that have awesome things to sell at great prices!
Right next to the Flea Market is Yoders Meat & Cheese. We loaded up on steaks, burgers, rib sauce, pancake mix and my favorite – BACON! A must see place in Shipshewana!
And of course a trip to Shipshewana has to involve a meal at the Blue Gate Restaurant. Get the fried chicken!! Always good and just for comparison, Cracker Barrel is like McDonald’s compared to the Blue Gate!
RV/MH Hall of Fame Museum
Since we were in the area, we had to check out the museum!! This place is amazing with rare and vintage recreational vehicles. They even have the oldest RV from 1913 with the car that towed it. I specifically like the trailers from the 1950’s with the nostalgic look and feel. You can enter and walk thru most of the RVs to get that sense of what it was like to camp out in those different eras.
This was Patti’s favorite, a 1954 Spartan trailer that is longer than our USS Dutch Star!
This was my favorite. Someone had taken a 1965 Cadillac and converted it into a long and spacious RV.
Of course they had modern day RVs but overall it was fun to see the evolution of the RV industry over the last 100 years.
Looks like you’re enjoying this new journey. Congratulations!!
Very much Pam! We are having a great time so far!!!
