Didn’t spend a lot of time in Tallahassee however spent a couple of days riding through the forests south of the city and riding up and the gulf coast!
We took the time to ride thru the Apalachicola National forest and Tate’s Hell State Forest. Very remote and not much around however there were no stops! In other words, long ride thru the forest without any stop and go moments. And once we got on 98 we stopped at Family Coastal Restaurant and it was amazing! One of those out of the way seafood restaurants that had great food. The catfish was the most tender and fresh seafood I have ever had.
After lunch, we continued east to St. George Island. We love visiting these coastal islands and learning their history. The lighthouse on this island has been knocked down and rebuilt 4 times over the past 184 years! The replica that is standing now still has some of the original materials from the initial lighthouse!
We rode up and down the island and saw so many homes and condominiums, we noted this island as a potential place to settle down if we decide the RV adventure is over.
We left the island for the ride of a lifetime – the Big Bend Scenic Highway Trail along the gulf coast and back to Tallahassee. It was amazing just riding down the coast with no stops!
Next stop – Spring Hill FL and Thanksgiving with my brother Sloan!
